Which RDP plan do you need? A CPU and RAM guide

Basic, Standard, Professional or Power: match the size to the job instead of guessing.

Start from the work, not the spec sheet

More vCPUs and more memory cost more, so the cheapest plan that runs your software smoothly is the right one. This guide maps common jobs to our four sizes. Every plan includes full administrator access, the Windows licence and a dedicated IP. Prices below are per month on yearly billing.

RDP plan ladder infographic
The four RDP sizes at a glance.

The four sizes

  • Basic, $9.99. 1 vCPU, 2 GB. One light application, a single script, or a clean Windows machine for testing.
  • Standard, $13.99. 2 vCPU, 4 GB. Everyday work, a couple of bots, shared accounting for a small office. Our most popular size.
  • Professional, $27.99. 4 vCPU, 8 GB. Several MetaTrader terminals, SEO tools running side by side, or a small team. Our recommended plan for most professional use.
  • Power, $48.99. 6 vCPU and up, 16 GB and up. Rendering, video encoding and heavy multitasking. Larger sizes are on the plans page.

Use-case examples

Forex: three terminals and a few expert advisors

Each terminal is its own process and every open chart uses memory. Four cores and 8 GB leave room for indicators and for Windows itself.

SEO: crawlers, rank trackers and browser automation

These tools run side by side and open many browser tabs. Four cores and 8 GB keep them from fighting for memory.

Accounting: Tally for a small office

A shared Tally company with a handful of users runs well on 2 vCPU and 4 GB.

Standard RDPfrom $13.99/moShared Tally
Rendering and video encoding

CPU rendering and batch encoding scale with core count. Start at 6 vCPU, and move to a Dedicated CPU plan when you want the cores reserved for you.

A single script or a test machine

A scheduled script or a clean Windows install for testing needs little. Start small.

Three rules that save money

  • Size for the job you run today. You can move up the day you need to.
  • Pay yearly if you plan to keep the server. The price per month is lower than monthly billing.
  • Pick the city first for latency-sensitive work such as trading. See all locations.

Frequently asked questions

How much RAM does a Windows RDP need?
Windows Server needs at least 2 GB of memory to run comfortably, so 2 GB is the minimum we sell for Windows. Add memory for every application you keep open: 4 GB for a couple of everyday tools, 8 GB or more for several terminals or a browser with many tabs.
Can I upgrade later?
Yes. Start on the smallest size that runs your software comfortably and move up when you need more. Changing plans is done from the client area.
Does a faster CPU matter more than more cores?
For single-threaded programs such as many trading terminals, per-core speed matters, so the High Frequency and High Performance plans help. For rendering and encoding, more cores finish the job sooner.
Is location more important than size?
For trading, often yes. Distance to the broker affects latency more than extra CPU. Pick the nearest city first, then size.
